After 36 years of service, Niagara Region’s Upper Canada Lodge long-term care home in Niagara-on-the-Lake closed on Thursday.
The closure follows the opening of the new Gilmore Lodge in Fort Erie and ongoing development of Linhaven in St. Catharines.
The facility, owned by Parks Canada and leased by the Region, will now return to Parks Canada’s management.
The Region has worked with Parks Canada to identify a new user for the building, ensuring it remains occupied and serves the community.
