The Ontario Labour Relations Board has confirmed that a majority of employees in Welland’s Infrastructure Services and Community Services groups voted to terminate UNIFOR’s representation rights.
As a result, these employees will no longer be represented by the union, and the previous collective agreement is void, though they will continue to contribute to the City’s workforce without disruption.
City CAO Rob Axiak emphasized respect for the employees’ decision and assured that the change won’t affect how the City values and supports its staff.
