This weekend, Canadians will once again take part in the annual Terry Fox Run, a fall tradition dedicated to raising funds for cancer research.
Executive Director for the Terry Fox Foundation Michael Mazza says his story still inspires people to this day.
Mazza adds that the future of cancer research is exciting, as technology is helping a lot of things move faster than previously.
Local Committee Chair John Grummett says it’s a fun time for all, and part of the appeal is that it’s not a competitive run.
Over 650 communities across the country are participating in the event this Sunday, including a few in Niagara.
In St. Catharines, the run will begin at 10 a.m. at Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie, with registration starting at 9 a.m.
Niagara Falls will hold its run at the Gale Centre, with registration at 9:30 a.m. and the run starting at 11 a.m.
In Welland, registration opens at 8:30 a.m., and the run kicks off at 9 a.m. at Merritt Island.
