The warm weather is here and summer break is around the corner.
Kids will be outdoors more often, but the Ontario Provincial Police wants to make sure that outdoor time is as safe as possible.
That was Constable Andrew Gamble who went to say that something as simple of wearing a helmet is important for a few reasons.
The most obvious reason being the safety it provides.
But Gamble wants to remind young people that going out on a bike without a helmet is breaking the law.
While it’s important to cyclists to wear helmets and take a look at their surroundings, it is also important for individuals behind a motor vehicle to realize their role in public safety.
Gamble continued saying there are a lot of beautiful places to take a bike in our community and motorist should keep an extra cautious eye on the road as they approach popular areas.
Gamble is hoping everyone has a safe summer, and wearing proper protection when on a bicycle is one good way to ensure that happens.
