The next generation of farming in the Niagara Region can mean a lot of different things, from growing fruits, vegetables, flowers, grapes for wine, marijuana, or even animal farming.
One man that helps get anybody ready for anything is Paul Zammit, a Professor in Niagara College’s School of Environment and Horticulture.
While there are several programs offered within the school, Zammit does note the interest in the farming and horticulture industry is still strong, as they see lots of signups every year for their programs.
He says in addition to there being a lot of students, they’re asking the right questions also.
Located at the base of the Niagara Escarpment, the NOTL campus features Ontario’s largest training greenhouse, newly renovated landscape design studio and computer lab; a heated landscape workshop; 15 acres of student-restored wetlands; and is Canada’s first nationally recognized post-secondary wildlife sanctuary.
