This is a day Niagara Falls Tourism has been preparing for now for over a year.
President Janice Thomson says days like today are when the popular tourist destination thrives.
She says that businesses in the falls have been getting ready for this event for over a year and a half.
Thomson also adds that she’s expecting a very worldwide-audience in the Falls today, but also a good amount of people that are within driving or commuting distance.
Estimates for the eclipse locally range from the hundreds of thousands, to some even expecting one-million visitors in the Niagara Region to view the celestial event.
Thomson says this will far and away be one of the busier spring days they’ve ever seen.
There are a number of road closures in Niagara Falls, as well as in Fort Erie, in place for today to allow emergency vehicles to safely travel, as well as for crowd control purposes.
