Norris Walker, a longtime supporter of numerous causes, passed away on January 27th at 91.
As a 4th generation co-owner of Walker Industries, he donated to various charities including cancer care, education, housing, and mental health.
Recognized for his service, he received the Queens Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medal and an honorary doctorate from Brock University in 2001.
The Walker family is reflected across Brock University’s campus as well. The Walker Sports Complex, home to the University’s athletic and recreation facilities, is because of a generous contribution of Norris, his brother John and their families. Additionally, the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts, which opened in 2015, has served as a catalyst for the revitalization of the arts scene in St. Catharines, according to the university.
A celebration of his life will be held by his family at a later date.
