Alex Assadourian scored twice and added an assist in a 7-5 home ice win over Ottawa.
Brody Crane’s first as an IceDog tied the game at one, on a penalty-shot, after the 67’s got the early lead on a penalty-shot of their own. In a night of firsts, Ethan Czata’s first ever OHL goal gave Ben Boudreau’s team a 2-1 advantage after twenty.
In the middle period, Niagara fired a season high 20 shots on goal and got rewarded with Mike Levin’s 10th, after Ottawa evened the score at two. Even at three goals apiece, the home side would hit for two in a 1:25 span. Evan Klein’s 4th at even strength and Assadourian’s 4th, on the power-play, made it 5-3 heading to the third.
Again it was a one goal game in the final twenty before Gavin Bryant scored the second power-play marker of the night for his 8th of the year. One more time Ottawa made it a one goal affair, before Assadourian found the back of the empty 67’s net for the team’s league leading 11th short-handed goal of the year.
Heading to Kingston for a Friday night game, the IceDogs out-shot Ottawa 43-31. In the middle of a 3 in 3 weekend, the pre-game show begins the night at 6:45 on New Country 89.1
