Evan Klein scored twice and Ivan Galiyanov added a goal and two assists but a late goal victimized the IceDogs in a 5-4 loss to the Soo Greyhounds.
Klein’s first came 3:40 into the contest and the home side held the advantage for over ten minutes. Tied at 1, and killing a late penalty, Galiyanov’s short handed marker restored the lead. It is the 6th short-handed IceDogs goal of the season. Out of the penalty box, Kevin He raced down the left side and notched his 7th of the year to make it 3-1 after the first period.
Period two was all Greyhounds, with three unanswered goals, giving the visitors a 4-3 advantage after two.
A depleted Niagara roster, without 5 regulars also lost Brody Crane during the contest, but found a way to battle back. Evan Klein’s second of the night tied the score at 4 as Ben Boudreau’s side gave it all they had. A tough break deflection would give the Hounds the win with 10 seconds left.
Another 3 in 3 weekend begins Thursday night with a visit from the Barrie Colts. Niagara’s New Country 89.1, your home for IceDogs hockey, kicks things off with a pre-game at 6:45.
