On Tuesday, NDP’s Health critic France Gélinas and Long-term Care Critic Wayne Gates introduced the Healthcare Staffing Agencies Act 2023.
The act aims to halt private nursing agencies from engaging in price gouging and staff poaching.
The act mandates hospitals and long-term care homes in communities with 8,000 residents or more to limit their spending on healthcare staffing agencies, with input from frontline healthcare workers.
