What does community mean to you? It is a simple question on the surface, but can mean many different things to different people.
Graduating high students were asked that question as part of the Community First Scholarship program being given out by My Broadcasting Corporation.
After a search across the province, Fredrick Wielinga was picked to recieve $2500.
Frederick, who has been accepted into the Honors Bachelors of Aviation Technology Program at Seneca College, says his community has really given him a sense of belonging.
Hannah Irvine, who received $500, says the idea of community has played an important role in her life.
Irvine is going to attend the University of Waterloo in the fall, studying Environmental Engineering with a plan to specialize in hydrology.
Jamie Hopkins was another $500 winner and says being part of a community often does get taken for granted.
Hopkins has chosen to pursue a career in Child and Youth Care because she is passionate about helping others achieve their goals and loves seeing children grow to their full potential.
Finally, with her eyes on becoming a family physician, Natalie Suprun is reflecting on the main elements of what makes a great community.
Suprun has accepted an offer to study Health Science at the University of Western Ontario.
Congratulations to all chosen and to the more than 100 candidates who put their names forward.
