A pair of Niagara Regional Police Officers have been cleared by the province’s special investigations unit.
The SIU says there was no wrongdoing when the officers used anti-riot weapon enfields on a 46-year-old man before his arrest last November in St. Catharines.
SIU Director Joseph Martino says there’s no reasonable grounds for charges to be pressed against the officers. The SIU is called to investigate incidents that result in death, serious injury, sexual assault, or discharged firearms involving police.
