Inquest into the death of woman at NRPS HQ to start in February

An inquest into the death of a 24-year-old woman at Niagara Regional Police Headquarters now has a date.

Dr. Karen Schiff, Regional Supervising Coroner for West Region, Hamilton Office, has announced the inquest into the death of Sabrina Van Vessem will begin Monday, February 3.

Van Vessem, died on May 21, 2020, while in custody at the police headquarters, while the inquest, expected to last five days and feature testimony from about nine witnesses, will be conducted via video conference.
