A chilly tradition is back for New Years Day in Grimsby tomorrow.
The 16th annual Grimsby Polar Bear Dip starts at 2:00pm at Bal Harbour Park. Each year, residents come out in the hundreds to run into Lake Ontario for the plunge, with all proceeds going towards McNally House Hospice in Grimsby.
Last year’s event raised over $8700, with organizers hoping to pass that this year. McNally House is currently in the midst of a $16-million expansion project.
The temperature for Wednesday’s polar bear dip is expected to be around 2°C.
