Ethan Czata scored twice as the IceDogs squished the fish from Brampton 5-4 at the Meridian Centre Friday night. The second year forward’s 8th and 9th of the season would be the difference.
Alex Assadourian opened the scoring 1:28 into the contest. Playing in his first game since being injured October 24th, Assadourian’s right wing snapshot gave the home side a quick lead. Tied after twenty, the shots favored Ben Boudreau’s team 12-11.
Noah Van Vliet’s 2nd of the season seconds after a late first period penalty came to an end gave the Dogs the lead once again. Czata’s first of two came with 2:13 to go before Brampton would creep closer on a power-play. Owen Flores would be on his game in the second, stopping 15 visitors’ attempts.
After Brampton evened the scored in the final twenty, Ryan Roobroeck would hit for his 20th on the man advantage at 9:15. Czata would then convert a slap pass in tight to make it 5-3 at 16:20 before the Steelheads would empty the net and score the final goal of the night. The shot clock went the way of the visitors 34-30 as the IceDogs chalked up win number 16 of the season.
Next up, before 7 straight on the road, it’s a visit from the Brantford Bulldogs Sunday afternoon. New Country 89.1 starts your hockey day with the pre-game at 1:45.
