Premier Doug Ford has responded to a number of mayors, including St. Catharines Mayor Mat Siscoe, in regard to homeless encampments and their impact on community safety.
Ford says they are acting to put an end to public disorder, drug use and trafficking, and loss of public space.
He went on to say that Ontario is finalizing the details of new initiatives, including enhanced legislative powers, that will be responsive to their requests.
The Ford government recently announced $378 million to create 19 Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment hubs, which will add up to 375 housing units.
