The families of Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy will be attending Paul Bernardo’s next parole hearing in person after all.
Earlier this week, the Parole Board of Canada said that their statements would have to be done virtually, which sparked outrage from thousands across Canada, before that decision was reserved late yesterday afternoon.
In an open letter to the parole board, their lawyer Tim Danson says not allowing them to give statements in person ran contrary to the Corrections and Conditional Release Act and the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights. A request to have the hearing moved to December was denied.
