Niagara Regional police are investigating an explosion at Central French Immersion in Grimsby.
The explosion occurred outside of the building near a garbage bin. An adult female staff member was treated by paramedics for minor injuries and transported to an area hospital.
The school was in a “Lock and Learn” status and the students were moved to a nearby location for end dismissal.
St. Andrews Anglican Church Daycare was also evacuated, and occupants were relocated to a nearby location.
- Main St. W. is closed between St. Andrews Ave. and Kerman Ave.
- St. Andrews Ave. is closed between Bolton Ave. and Main St. W.
- Bolton Ave. and Kidd Ave. are both closed.
The NRPS Explosive Disposal Unit has been called to scene to investigate the cause of the explosion further. The public should expect to see a heavy police presence into the evening.
