Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal collision in Welland.
Just before 10:00pm Saturday night, OPP say a pickup truck collided head on with a transit bus, resulting in the death of three people.
Police say the truck rolled over and burst into flames, with the driver and both passengers being pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the bus was airlifted by Ornge Air Ambulance to an out-of-region hospital with life-threatening injuries, while one of the two bus passengers was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
OPP Highway Safety Division, Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team are continuing to investigate.
Highway 58 is still closed as of 3:00pm Sunday between Kleiner Street and Forks Road, however an OPP spokesperson says the highway should be reopened around 4:00pm Sunday.
Detours are currently in place.
This is the third serious collision on this stretch of Highway 58 since March, including a fatal crash less than a month ago on September 21st.
