Andy Colonico is a lot of things – a rocker, a passionate Wellander, and most recently, a country music artist.
The leader singer of popular Niagara-based rock band Revive The Rose for a decade now, Colonico has recently launched a solo projects that focuses on country music.
He says since exploring this new genre as an artist, he’s seen a lot of positive feedback and support.
His latest single ‘HELL YEAH‘ is filled with references to Welland – Colonico’s hometown and where he still calls home to this day.
He says it’s a big part of his identity, so it was important to make sure the city gets lots of love in his music.
‘HELL YEAH’ has gained lots of steam online, with over 10,000 plays on Spotify and inclusion in a number of larger playlists on the popular music streaming app.
It’s also been named the official theme song of the Welland Jackfish’s 2024 season. Colonico says once he saw what that team was doing for the community, he knew he wanted to get involved.
While exploring his country roots, Colonico adds that Revive The Rose isn’t going anywhere anytime soon either. He understands a large part of his core fanbase came from rock music, and hopes that the rock influences in his country music are something that crowd can still appreciate.
As part of New Country 89.1’s New Artist Discovery, ‘HELL YEAH’ will be receiving extra spotlight plays on Niagara’s New Country 89.1 over the next several weeks.
