A major donation has been made to the new South Niagara Hospital that’s under construction.
Alfredo and Mary Varalli have been named as ‘Future Builder Donors’, thanks to a generous donation of $1-million.
Alfredo Varalli settled in Niagara Falls when he was sixteen after immigrating from Italy. He has always felt a
deep connection to the community. After opening his first business, a pizza and sub shop, he experienced
firsthand the community’s supportive spirit. In 1965, he purchased Roman Cheese Products, a small cheese
manufacturing plant, and over the past 59 years, has built a successful business distributing quality Italian food
across Canada.
The couple has a longstanding history of supporting healthcare and other Niagara-based organizations, and hope to inspire others by leading by example.
Andrea Scott, President and CEO of the Niagara Health Foundation, says their generosity will have a lasting impact on healthcare in the region, adding that they’re thankful for the donation.
A nuclear medicine room of the new hospital will be named after them in their honour for the donation.
