A number of cannabis storefronts in Niagara have been shut down by police.
OPP say six locations of Indige Smoke, including locations in St. Catharines, Welland, Fort Erie and Thorold, have been closed as they were allegedly operating without a proper authorization from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
In total, more than $640,000 in cannabis products, $350,000 of tobacco and nearly $30,000 of cash were seized, as well as three handguns, a shotgun, cocaine and electronic devices.
Persons with interest in any of the locations (including owners) who wish to enter these premises must apply to the Superior Court of Justice to get permission under section 18(4) of the CCA. Anyone who enters the buildings that are subject to interim closure may be arrested and charged with Break and Enter, under section 348(1) of the Criminal Code. Eleven people were arrested in connection with the shut down.
