In May, Niagara Regional Police began a drug trafficking investigation targeting a male suspect operating throughout the Niagara Region.
On June 8 at 3:35 am, detectives arrested two males on Finch Avenue W in Toronto. During the arrest, a loaded handgun was found on one of the suspects.
A subsequent search of their vehicle uncovered six handguns (including the loaded handgun), one fully automatic AK-style pistol, and several high-capacity magazines.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects had travelled from Niagara Region to the Manitoba and North Dakota border and were returning to Niagara, where the firearms were likely intended for street sales.
The two arrested individuals, 44-year-old Marlon Roberts from the United States/Niagara Falls and 32-year-old Ahmed Saad from Niagara Falls, now face multiple charges.
