The Canadian government has announced $15-million in federal funding to address the recent increase in auto theft.
Minister of Public Safety Dominic Leblanc, Minister of Transport Pablo Rodriguez, and other officials stated that $9.1-million will go to provincial, territorial, and municipal forces through the Contribution Program to Combat Serious and Organized Crime.
Additionally, $3.5-million will support INTERPOL’s transnational vehicle crime project, and $2.4 million will aid domestic and international partners.
