Brock University has partnered with SpacesShared to tackle affordable housing.
Launched yesterday, the innovative homesharing platform connects students in need of housing with older adults offering space in their homes. This unique initiative not only addresses housing challenges in Niagara but also fosters intergenerational relationships, with students helping around the house in exchange for reduced rent.
SpacesShared CEO Rylan Kinnon emphasizes the proven benefits of homesharing, promoting affordable housing, encouraging aging at home, and reducing social isolation for hosts and students.
For anyone looking to learn more about hosting opportunities, Brock and SpacesShared will be holding community information sessions on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Goodman Atrium at the University and on Wednesday, March 6 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Thorold Community Activities Group, 131 Richmond St. in Thorold.
