Canadian Blood Services reports that over four thousand individuals have contributed blood since the recent lifting of a ban related to concerns about mad cow disease.
Previously, those who had lived or traveled extensively in the U.K, Ireland, or France during the 1980s and 1990s were ineligible to donate due to fears of consuming beef contaminated with mad cow disease.
Canadian Blood Services is pleased with the response and emphasizes the ongoing need for 100 thousand new donors annually.
