Today is known in the mental health community as Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year.
Tara McKendrick, Executive Director of the local Canadian Mental Health Association Branch, says one of the factors is New Years Resolutions.
McKendrick adds that the holidays being in the rear-view can add to the winter blues.
For many people, one of the biggest factors for the winter blues is just that – winter itself. McKendrick says the challenges that Canada poses in the winter can add to people’s moods.
She says that the CMHA offers a number of free services for any residents reaching out about mental health struggles.
