A court has ruled that a Hamilton man was not criminally responsible for the February 2022 stabbing death of Niagara winemaker Paul Pender.
The verdict came down Wednesday from Superior Court Judge Michael Bordin, who says the accused, Bradley House, was not criminally responsible on account of ‘mental disorder’. Two psychological experts that testified during the trial noted said House had an inability to determine whether or not his actions were ‘morally wrong’, according to Judge Bordin.
Before his death, Pender was the head winemaker at Tawse Winery in Vineland. He leaves behind his wife, Allison, and three children.
