Sport historian and author Fred Addis will discuss the life of Don Gallinger, a 1940s hockey sensation from Port Colborne, in an upcoming book launch and talk.
The event, organized by Brock’s Centre for Sport Capacity, will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Pond Inlet on Brock’s main campus.
Addis will delve into his new book, “Gallinger, A Life Suspended,” detailing the rise and fall of the talented hockey prodigy who joined the NHL’s Boston Bruins at just 17.
Gallinger’s promising career abruptly ended in 1948 due to a betting scandal in Detroit, leading to a lifetime NHL ban and personal struggles.
