On September 29th, the City of St. Catharines is partnering with the Niagara Regional Native Centre to mark the tenth anniversary of Orange Shirt Day, now recognized as National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
A commemorative ceremony at 10 a.m. on the front steps of St. Catharines City Hall will include remarks from Mayor Mat Siscoe, local Indigenous community members, and NRNC singers performing reflective songs.
The ‘Every Child Matters’ flag will be raised and lowered in honor of residential school survivors, their families, and affected communities.
Attendees are encouraged to wear orange, and free downtown parking will be available, garages and permit lots excluded, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 29th.
