This weekend could be the highlight of your summer.
The annual Perseid Meteor Shower will peak Saturday.
That was The Backyard Astronomer Gary Boyle talking to us about the special display in the sky.
While the meteor shower is actually an ongoing event throughout August, Saturday night will see the sky putting on the best show.
Additionally, what makes this event special is all you need is just to be at a good location.
Unluck other events, this one does not need any special equipment.
Boyle says if the clouds stay away and you have a good spot, it will be a sight you will not easily forget.
He also added this additional tip, for those of you with a nice camera looking to capture the moment.
Getting technical, Boyle said that what we are seeing is earth plowing through the dusty debris of Comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle, a 26 km or 16 mi wide mountain of ice, dust and gravel that last appeared in 1992 in its 133-year orbit around the sun.
It will return in the year 2125.
