The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake announced that Fire Chief Jay Plato and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire and Emergency Services Department have been honored with the 2023 VFIS Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Award by the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs.
The award recognizes their exceptional efforts in recruiting and retaining volunteer firefighters.
The Town’s Volunteer Firefighter Recruitment Program involves rigorous training and testing, with candidates dedicating over 300 hours of their time over nine months.
