The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake has announced that it has once again received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada . The Town has received this award for ten consecutive years. The program was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high-quality financial reports and to provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing the reports.
CAO Marnie Cluckie says “The Town is fortunate to have an outstanding Corporate Services Department that consistently delivers exceptional financial services. The receipt of this award is the result of teamwork and dedication, and I am proud to see the team honoured by CAnFR for the tenth consecutive year!” The annual financial report has been judged by impartial Canadian Review Committee members to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” designed to clearly communicate the municipality’s financial story and to motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
