Niagara Regional Police have been actively investigating the allegation that a male suspect had impersonated himself as a police officer during a traffic stop. The allegation was that the suspect who was operating a black vehicle with white doors had activated emergency lighting and conducted a traffic stop on Monday evening in the area of Drummond Road near Prospect Street in Niagara Falls. Detectives would like to thank area residents and businesses who came forward and provided CCTV footage of the area, as well as community members who also provided information. The evidence collected assisted detectives who reinterviewed the complainant on Wednesday, at which time the story was determined to have been fabricated. 21 year old Emily Celeste Bojcic of Niagara Falls was arrested and is charged with public mischief. Bojcic was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice and is scheduled to attend court in St. Catharines on May 10th. Public Mischief is a criminal offence that occurs when a person who, with intent to mislead, causes a peace officer to enter on or continue an investigation by reporting that an offence has been committed when it has not been committed.
